More Floods in Australia
Articles like this remind me of the power that nature holds over man. Often time we forget this or even try to hold it back. We do it with sand bags, dams, and other barriers. Every time we do this the water just becomes stronger. If we did not do this and instead only build where was safe, we would be fine. However, we do continue to do this. Because of this we are giving nature a chance to punish us.
As well as being reminded of nature's power, I feel bad for the citizens of Melbourne. I can only imagine it being like the Nashville flood only much more sudden and intense. If I were there I would have been terrified and disturbed by the destruction of my house. The encouraging aspect of this is that it seems that at least some people there remained optimistic. The fact that one person has faith can encourage others and spread the amazing attitude that they have. As much as I am saddened by this I am encouraged by the optimism that these people can hold in the face of tragedy

Notes on Sharks
Attacks increase as Population increases.
Florida has had a decreasing rate of shark attacks in contrast to the rest of the world which has had a steadily increasing rate of shark attacks.
The number of unprovoked attacks has increased over that past few years; however the fatality rate has greatly decreased. This means that we have learned how to treat shark attacks and react to them in a much better way than in the past
